March 12

Busy busy......

In the last newsletter, I told you that February is a really busy month for us. Well, actually it's such a busy month that I didn't have a minute to write the newsletter! So my sincerest apologies for that, I hope you didn't miss it too much.
On the same theme, we're so busy with orders etc nowadays that we've decided to reduce the newsletter releases to one every two months instead of one every month. We'll still give you lots of present and stitching ideas, but I'll try to be a bit earlier with special dates!

So this month we're just in time for Mother's Day presents for Mum to stitch (in the UK Mother's Day is on Sunday 18th March, see below for dates for our international readers).

Show Season

February and March are show season for us. We've spent all of February preparing and attending the biggest trade-only craft show in Europe - Craft, Hobby and Stitch International at the NEC in Birmingham. What a show!

With thousands of visitors from all over the world, we were kept incredibly busy chatting to craft and gift shop owners, buyers from large chain stores, journalists from magazines as well as other exhibitors. The only problem was after 3 whole days of standing up my feet werekilling me! It's worth it though, to know that our products are being sold in more and more outlets every year. Soon you won't be able to miss us!

Our most popular products this year turned out to be our Designers by Stitchtastic range, which I've been showcasing in our newsletter for several months now. Kate Mawdsley's 2012 union jack designs caught everyone's eye and there was much amusement at Patrick's computer design.

Coming up in March we have our 2 retail shows for 2012, Stitch & Craft at Olympia in London and Sewing for Pleasure & Hobbycrafts at the NEC in Birmingham. We only have 2 days between the 2 shows so feet will certainly be aching again!

If you're coming to either of these shows, don't forget to come and see us, mention the newsletter and you'll receive a free gift.

Happy Mother's Day

I've never quite worked out why Mother's Day is at different times of the year in different countries (answers on an e-mail please!!). In Norway, Mother's Day has passed this year as it was on February 12th. It's on the second Sunday in May in 78 different countries
including the USA, Germany, Australia and China.

In fact, around the world there are 27 different dates for Mother's Day, so for some of you it's not too late to start stitching something for your Mum. However, here in the UK there's just time to buy her something, but not to stitch it unless you're a very quick stitcher
and want a speedy stitch like our 'Shop til You Drop' barcode design which only costs £9.95 and can be stitched in a few nights. Have a look at http://www.stitchtastic.com/product/shop-till-you-drop-barcode-cross-stitch-kit.aspx.

If you're going to buy something for Mum to stitch, why not go girly and appeal to her cute-loving side with a Princess Whiskers design? If she loves anything dramatic, try Jazz Hands Princess Whiskers - we've just had her stitched and she'll be appearing in fabric for the first time at Stitch & Craft.

Or how about something completely different, as Monthy Python used to say? Perhaps Mum would love a departure from the whole girly thing and would love to stitch her first car? We have some great Mini designs, or if she's always wanted a camper van, you can finally get her one....just in stitches.

I hope that's helps for those last minute present ideas. If you're like me and your Mum's birthday falls very close to Mother's Day (often on exactly the same day) you'd better start thinking of a second present now!
