If you find it easier to obtain Anchor floss, it's great to be able to easily convert from one type of thread to the other. DMC have a wider range of threads, but each stitcher is usually fiercely loyal to their own favourite brand! Since there is some variation between the colours provided by both companies, we have provided conversion charts from Anchor to DMC, and one from DMC to Anchor.
Anchor stranded cotton is manufactured by Coats Crafts UK, a company founded some 200 years ago, and is very popular with cross stitchers. There are now several hundred different colour shades within the Anchor range. The range is not quite as large as the DMC range with some variation between the colours provided by both companies.
What better way is there to compliment the soft furnishings in any room of the house than making cross stitch cushions? The pattern on your cushion can either be extremely busy or, perhaps, a single flower matching the main colour of your curtains. If the cushion is for a child's room, their favourite character from a book would look amazing stitched in their favourite colours. The choice is endless.
